The Nursing Skills Competency Course is an in‑person program approved by the Michigan State Board of Nursing. Students will review the required nursing skills as outlined by the Board and complete a comprehensive skills simulation examination at the conclusion of the course. Students must successfully pass all required skills in order to meet State Board requirements. This course fulfills the Michigan State Board of Nursing Skills Test requirement for renewal of a lapsed nursing license. Course offerings are available on June 22 and August 31, and students are required to attend one session.

The Supervision Program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip new and aspiring supervisors with essential skills for effective leadership. The program emphasizes practical application, providing participants with tools and frameworks they can immediately implement in their roles. This program is ideal for individuals transitioning into supervisory roles or those seeking to enhance their leadership capabilities in their current positions.

This course is for recertification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers, hands-on skills training.

Students must bring proof of completion of the American Heart Association Heartcode BLS online course with them to the skills test out.  The online training is purchased through the American Heart Association website: HeartCode® BLS | AHA

Students ready for the hands-on skills test out should:

• Send Karen Balyeat (KarenB@gogebic.edu) a copy of online completion verification. Please email her the information and set up a test-out time.
• Test out equipment will be set up for you to practice on.  Once you are ready to test out, notify Karen, and she will proctor your test out.

This class includes the cost of a certification card.  Cards will be sent to students at the end of each month.
